It applies particularly to the online immigration eligibility assessment and any Website functionality that uses automated or AI-supported processing.
This Disclaimer should be read together with the:
- Privacy Policy;
- Immigration Eligibility Disclaimer;
- Terms & Conditions; and
- Consultation Booking & Payment Terms.

3. WHAT AI AND AUTOMATED TECHNOLOGY MAY DO
Depending on the particular Website functionality, AI or automated systems may assist with:
- processing information entered by users;
- analysing assessment responses;
- comparing information against configured eligibility criteria;
- identifying potentially relevant immigration routes;
- generating preliminary explanations;
- generating summaries;
- supporting customer-service functionality;
- automating administrative workflows; and
- other Website functions.
The exact use of AI may change as CareerIreland develops or updates its Website and services.
4. THE ELIGIBILITY ASSESSMENT
The eligibility assessment may use rules-based automation, algorithms, AI or a combination of these technologies.
The system may compare information supplied by the user against criteria configured for the relevant immigration route.
The resulting output is intended to provide an indicative assessment.
It is not an official immigration determination.
5. AI DOES NOT MAKE THE GOVERNMENT DECISION
CareerIreland's automated assessment does not make or control decisions made by:
- Immigration Service Delivery;
- the Department of Justice;
- visa authorities;
- employment-permit authorities;
- embassies;
- consulates; or
- other competent authorities.
The official immigration decision remains the responsibility of the relevant authority.
6. NO GUARANTEE OF ACCURACY
AI and automated systems can produce inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate outputs.
Possible limitations include:
- incorrect interpretation of information;
- incomplete analysis;
- outdated information;
- incorrect classification;
- unexpected output;
- failure to recognise relevant circumstances;
- omission of relevant factors; or
- errors resulting from the information supplied by the user.
CareerIreland does not represent that every automated output will be accurate or complete.
The DPC has specifically highlighted that AI systems can produce inaccurate or biased information and that organisations must understand the data-protection risks associated with relying on AI outputs.
7. INFORMATION USED BY THE ASSESSMENT
The assessment may consider information supplied by the user, including information relevant to the particular immigration route.
Depending on the assessment, this may include:
- nationality;
- residence;
- immigration status;
- employment;
- occupation;
- salary;
- qualifications;
- family circumstances;
- residence history;
- immigration history;
- citizenship or naturalisation circumstances; and
- other relevant information.
The exact information used will depend on the assessment.
8. USER RESPONSIBILITY FOR INPUTS
Users are responsible for ensuring that information entered into the assessment is:
- accurate;
- complete;
- current; and
- not deliberately misleading.
If information is incorrect or incomplete, the automated result may also be incorrect or incomplete.
9. AI OUTPUT IS NOT PROFESSIONAL OR OFFICIAL ADVICE
AI-generated information should not be treated as:
- an official immigration decision;
- an immigration permission;
- legal advice;
- a visa approval;
- an employment-permit approval;
- a citizenship determination;
- a naturalisation determination; or
- a guarantee of application success.
Where the user's circumstances require individual consideration, the user should consider obtaining appropriate professional advice or using CareerIreland's consultation service where available.
The Irish Immigration Service similarly states that its own AI chatbot provides informational assistance rather than legal advice and does not guarantee the accuracy or reliability of its output.
10. AUTOMATED PROCESSING
The eligibility assessment may involve automated processing of information.
This may include:
- rules-based evaluation;
- automated classification;
- algorithmic matching;
- automated scoring;
- AI-supported analysis; or
- automated generation of explanatory text.
The exact methodology may vary according to the assessment and technology being used.
11. HOW THE AUTOMATED ASSESSMENT WORKS
At a high level, the assessment may operate by:
- collecting information entered by the user;
- identifying the relevant assessment criteria;
- comparing the supplied information against configured criteria;
- identifying potentially relevant eligibility factors;
- generating an indicative result; and
- presenting the result to the user.
The assessment is not intended to reproduce the full decision-making process of an Irish immigration authority.
12. MEANING OF AN ASSESSMENT RESULT
A positive or potentially positive result means that the information supplied appears to satisfy certain criteria incorporated into the assessment.
It does not mean that every legal or documentary requirement has been independently verified.
A negative result means that the information supplied did not indicate sufficient alignment with the criteria used by the assessment.
It does not necessarily mean that no alternative immigration route exists.
13. CRITERIA MAY CHANGE
The criteria used by the assessment may be updated.
Changes may be required because of:
- changes in Irish immigration law;
- changes in Government policy;
- changes in official requirements;
- corrections;
- changes in assessment methodology;
- Website improvements; or
- changes in technology.
Consequently, two assessments completed at different times may not necessarily produce identical results where the underlying criteria have changed.
14. SOURCE INFORMATION
CareerIreland may use information from:
- official public sources;
- publicly available information;
- information incorporated into the assessment;
- internal assessment criteria; and
- other sources considered appropriate for the relevant service.
The availability and accuracy of external information may change.
Where an immigration requirement is important to an application, users should verify the current requirement against the relevant official source.
15. OFFICIAL SOURCES REMAIN AUTHORITATIVE
Where there is a difference between:
- an automated CareerIreland assessment; and
- a current requirement published by the relevant Irish Government authority,
the official Government requirement should be treated as authoritative.
CareerIreland may provide links to official sources to assist users with verification.
16. HUMAN OVERSIGHT
The existence of an automated assessment does not mean that every result is individually reviewed by a CareerIreland consultant before being presented.
Where a user requests or purchases a consultation, a human consultant may consider the user's circumstances within the scope of that consultation.
Human review does not constitute an official Government determination.
17. AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING
CareerIreland distinguishes between an indicative automated assessment and an official decision that has legal or similarly significant consequences.
The eligibility assessment is designed as an informational tool and does not itself:
- grant immigration permission;
- refuse immigration permission;
- grant a visa;
- refuse a visa;
- grant citizenship;
- refuse citizenship;
- grant an employment permit; or
- create or terminate another legal status.
18. ARTICLE 22 GDPR
Where applicable, GDPR Article 22 provides protections against decisions based solely on automated processing where those decisions produce legal effects or similarly significant effects.
The DPC explains that individuals have a right not to be subject to qualifying solely automated decisions, subject to the exceptions and safeguards provided by GDPR.
CareerIreland's eligibility assessment is intended to provide informational guidance rather than make a decision producing such an effect.
Where applicable rights arise, CareerIreland will respect those rights in accordance with applicable law.
19. HUMAN INTERVENTION
Where applicable data-protection law gives an individual a right to human intervention concerning automated decision-making, CareerIreland will provide the relevant safeguards required by law.
Where appropriate, a user may also request clarification concerning an assessment result or use an available consultation service for individual discussion.
20. CHALLENGING AN ASSESSMENT RESULT
If you believe an automated assessment result is incorrect, you may contact CareerIreland.
Where appropriate, you should explain:
- the assessment result;
- the information you entered;
- the part of the result you believe is incorrect; and
- any relevant information supporting your position.
CareerIreland may review the issue and determine whether clarification, correction or another appropriate response is warranted.
21. AI BIAS AND LIMITATIONS
AI and automated systems may produce outputs that do not adequately account for every individual circumstance.
Potential limitations may include:
- incomplete contextual understanding;
- inconsistent interpretation;
- unexpected correlations;
- classification errors;
- inaccurate assumptions; or
- other limitations inherent in automated processing.
CareerIreland seeks to use appropriate criteria and review its automated functionality, but does not guarantee that automated processing will be free from error or bias.
22. NO TRAINING ASSUMPTION
CareerIreland does not represent that information submitted through the eligibility assessment is automatically used to train a general-purpose AI model.
Any use of submitted information for AI training or model improvement will depend on the actual technology and provider arrangements in place.
The Privacy Policy describes the relevant categories of third-party processing.
23. THIRD-PARTY AI PROVIDERS
CareerIreland may use third-party technology providers to support AI or automated functionality.
Depending on the actual technology, a provider may process information necessary to provide:
- AI functionality;
- automated analysis;
- workflow automation;
- customer support;
- Website functionality; or
- related services.
The relevant provider may act as a processor or independent controller depending on the processing involved.
The Privacy Policy provides further information concerning third-party processing.
24. THIRD-PARTY PROVIDER CHANGES
CareerIreland may change AI or automation providers where reasonably necessary.
Changes may result from:
- technology improvements;
- service reliability;
- security;
- cost;
- functionality;
- legal requirements; or
- other operational considerations.
Where a change materially affects personal-data processing, CareerIreland will update its privacy information where required.
25. PERSONAL DATA AND AI
Personal information supplied to an AI-supported system may be processed as part of the relevant service.
CareerIreland will consider applicable data-protection requirements when using AI and automated technology.
This includes consideration of:
- lawfulness;
- transparency;
- purpose limitation;
- data minimisation;
- accuracy;
- storage limitation;
- security; and
- data-subject rights.
The DPC has emphasised that organisations using AI systems need to understand how personal data is protected when AI processing is carried out by the organisation or on its behalf.
26. SPECIAL-CATEGORY INFORMATION
Users should not enter unnecessary special-category personal data into an AI or automated assessment.
Where special-category information is processed, CareerIreland will consider the additional legal requirements applicable to such processing.
Further information is provided in the Privacy Policy.
27. SECURITY OF AI SYSTEMS
CareerIreland seeks to use appropriate technical and organisational safeguards in connection with AI and automated processing.
However, no Internet service, AI system or electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Users should not submit:
- passwords;
- payment-card security codes;
- unnecessary confidential information; or
- information unrelated to the assessment.
28. AI OUTPUT AND IMMIGRATION APPLICATIONS
Users should not copy an AI-generated assessment result into an immigration application without independently checking its accuracy and relevance.
An assessment result is not evidence that an applicant satisfies an immigration requirement.
Supporting evidence must be obtained and submitted where required by the relevant authority.
29. NO GOVERNMENT AFFILIATION
The use of AI or automated technology by CareerIreland does not mean that the service is operated by or connected with:
- Immigration Service Delivery;
- the Department of Justice;
- the Irish Government;
- an Irish embassy;
- an Irish consulate; or
- another Government authority.
CareerIreland is an independent private company.
30. NO GUARANTEE OF IMMIGRATION OUTCOME
AI or automated assessment cannot guarantee:
- visa approval;
- employment-permit approval;
- residence;
- citizenship;
- naturalisation;
- entry to Ireland;
- renewal of permission; or
- any other immigration outcome.
Official decisions remain with the relevant authority.
31. WEBSITE AVAILABILITY
AI and automated functionality may be temporarily unavailable because of:
- maintenance;
- technical failures;
- provider outages;
- updates;
- security measures;
- capacity limitations; or
- circumstances outside CareerIreland's reasonable control.
32. TECHNICAL ERRORS
Automated functionality may occasionally experience:
- incorrect outputs;
- service interruptions;
- processing errors;
- display errors;
- integration failures;
- delayed responses; or
- other technical issues.
CareerIreland may investigate and correct such issues where identified.
33. USER REVIEW
Users should review an assessment result before relying upon it.
In particular, users should check:
- whether the information entered was correct;
- whether relevant circumstances were omitted;
- whether the result relates to the intended immigration route;
- whether the relevant Government requirements have changed; and
- whether additional documentation or requirements apply.
34. CONSULTATION AS A SEPARATE SERVICE
If a user requires discussion of their particular circumstances, CareerIreland may offer a paid consultation.
The consultation is separate from the automated assessment.
Booking a consultation does not guarantee an immigration outcome.
The Consultation Booking & Payment Terms and Refund & Cancellation Policy apply to the consultation service.
35. NO PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIP CREATED BY AUTOMATED OUTPUT
The generation of an automated assessment result does not, by itself, create a solicitor-client relationship or another professional relationship beyond the service expressly purchased or provided.
The scope of any human consultation or other professional service will be determined by the applicable service terms.
36. FEEDBACK AND CORRECTIONS
Users may report:
- apparent errors;
- outdated information;
- technical problems;
- inappropriate results; or
- other concerns relating to automated functionality.
CareerIreland may use such reports to investigate and improve the assessment.
Submitting feedback does not guarantee that a particular result will be changed.
37. IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR USERS
AI-generated or automated results should be treated as indicative only.
Do not treat an automated result as Government approval.
Do not assume that a positive result guarantees eligibility.
Check current official immigration requirements.
Ensure that the information you provide is accurate and complete.
Obtain appropriate professional advice where your circumstances require it.
38. SHORT AI NOTICE FOR THE ASSESSMENT PAGE
The following short notice may be displayed next to the eligibility assessment:
